For listeners of heavier music genres whether it’s metal, hardcore, rock or screamo, this late-night rock show is ideal.
Every Tuesday morning on BBC Radio One from midnight until two, rock enthusiast Daniel P Carter plays the best new music. He interviews bands on his show on a regular basis, and often has bands perform their songs live in session, recorded at Maida Vale. Previous bands he’s had in session include the likes of: Young Guns, Trivium, Kids In Glass Houses and Black Veil Brides. He’s the rock music guru of Radio One, and having been brought up listening to various underground music, and as a musician played in the bands Hexes, The Lucky Nine, Bloodhound Gang and A, so he certainly knows what he’s talking about.
This once-a-week alternative show offers rock and metal lovers a platform to access the newest music of the scene which could not be attained listening to the primetime radio shows on Radio One. Although other DJs during the day may surprisingly play bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Enter Shikari and Bullet For My Valentine, Daniel P Carter is able to bring an in-depth knowledge of the genres to the show and push the boundariesfurther.
It’s carte blanche as to what he can play as his show is broadcast in the early hours of the morning, enabling him to play the heaviest music out there and having a show solely dedicated to heavier genres. And what’s really great is you don’t have to stay up late to listen to the show because it’s available on BBC iPlayer to replay when best suits you.
