PROFESSOR GREEN @ the O2 Academy
British Eminem (and Cluedo character?), Professor Green, burst on the scene with a mash up sampling INXS' Need You Tonight. The Professor Green camp continues to go from good news to good news. Just come off tour with Lily Allen, another top ten hit last week and now news that the new O2 Academy in Leicester has announced he will be the opening act for the venue.
Hackney's rising rap star has been quoted as saying "It is a real honour to be asked to perform at the opening of O2 Academy Leicester," he said. "I look forward to being the first headline act to grace the stage." The bloody creep!
There's no escaping this kid and the promoters of this gig are hopeful it will be the kick start that Leicester's music scene needs. Professor Green's performance on September 23rd is just the first of a series of concerts already booked for the brand spanking new venue. Rumour is they asked Kasabian first, but please don't tell the poor Prof that.
Others to follow throughout the autumn/winter of 2010 include Plan B and The Magic Numbers, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and (eek) The Goo Goo Dolls.
