FRANZ FERDINAND DENY MUSICAL CLAIMS

Scottish indie gentry Franz Ferdiand have been forced to back track after claiming they were working on a musical.

During a recent interview with Australian radio station Triple J singer Alex Kapranos revealed that he had been planning to write a musical.

Obviously said in a flippant manner on air, the story was widely reported. Now the singer has released a series of statements via Twitter claiming that the entire thing was simply a flight of fancy.

"I'm not writing a bloody musical. I was talking about an idea I had for one. Doesn't mean I'm going to write it," he wrote.

[Thank God for that! Ed.]

ALLEN: 'GET ME ON COME DINE WITH ME'

Lily Allen has admitted that she wants to appear on Channel 4 cookery show Come Dine With Me.

The popstar, who recently announced that she is retiring from the music industry, revealed that she is a big fan of the programme, which involves contestants battling it out to host the best dinner party.

"Now that I've retired, I'm gonna try and get on Come Dine With Me ," she wrote on Twitter. "I'm making chicken, tarragon and leek pie tonight. Yum."

Dave Lamb, the show's voiceover man, tweeted Allen offering to help get her on the programme. In response, she wrote: "Ooh yes please..."

[Inspired by this, we are gonna use Twitter to try and get into any future Baywatch reunion parties. Ed.]

AMY WINEHOUSE 'INTERESTED IN SCIENTOLOGY'

Amy Winehouse has been showing an interest in Scientology - which isn't being taken well by the singer's family and friends.

The Daily Star claims the Back To Black star started to discover more about the faith, because her former husband Blake-Fielder Civil (who she is now dating again) is involved.

"As soon as Amy heard Blake was into Scientology, she wanted to find out more." A source close to the couple explained to the newspaper. "She idolizes the way he thinks about life.

"Anything Blake says, Amy believes." Blabbed the insider. "It's worrying because Amy might get brain-washed. Her dad Mitch is going to go mad because their family is Jewish and he's really proud of their heritage."

[Winehouse copies Blake-Fielder Civil? Maybe he could actually do us all a favour and start hanging around a recording studio then? Might help. Ed.]

LIAM QUITS ROCK 'N' ROLL LIFESTYLE

Liam Gallagher quit his rock 'n' roll lifestyle for his children.

The former Oasis singer has toned down his partying ways and has started looking after his body so he can be a good father to his three kids.

Liam, 37, said: "Everyday I'm up at 6am for a run and do a few miles across Hampstead Heath. I love it. I've definitely changed, I think for the better. You must remember I've caned it for 20 years with all sorts and I've got the kids now. I just took my foot off the gas a little with all the bits and bobs because you can't be doing all that with the kids, it's not fair on them. And I love being a dad. It's the best thing in the world."

[Sadly, no journalists can be arsed to get up at 6am to check the accuracy of these claims. Damn it! Ed.]

EMOTIONAL SINGER KATE NASH

Kate Nash gets emotional when she plays her new songs.

The Foundations hitmaker admits she is surprised at the range of emotions her new track My Best Friend Is You made her feel when she was writing the song.

She said: "I was in a rehearsal room and it was dark and freezing. I just wrote that riff and it was simple - but it didn't matter, it didn't need a lot of lyrics, it was a bit in your face.

"It's just an expression, it could mean anything - passion, funniness, anger. I can imagine playing it live and hating everyone in the room so much I want to stab their eyes out."

[We contacted Specsavers - who were said it was very doubtful that they will ban their employees from listening to the song/album, but assured us that their staff will probably NOT stab out your eyes. Ed.]

PAUL WELLER IS HAPPY TO BE HAIRY

Paul Weller is glad he isn't bald.

The 51-year-old singer has admitted he has only just stopped dyeing his tresses and is comfortable to show off his greying locks because at least he still has hair.

He said: "I was dyeing it up to a year ago, maybe more. There's no shame in it. So long as you don't end up with red hair or anything. I'm just thankful I've still got some."

Despite being proud to be grey, Paul believes that a good haircut is the biggest key to looking cool.

He said: "Hair and shoes are both equally important, but the hair maybe edges it. Your hair is an attitude really, or a statement. To me, they're both very important."

[What do we recommend that our readers buy if they notice that they are starting to lose their hair? Err....a good quality vacuum cleaner. Ed.]
