The Maccabees – Child

The Maccabees – Child

After the success of Colour It In and Wall of Arms, Orlando and crew are back. With a new album Given to the Wild scheduled for release on the 9th of January, there’s no wonder little gems like this are starting to circulate.

Debuted at their various live shows last year, Child will be featured on the band’s third album along with official single Pelican which is out 1st January 2012. Child is a light hearted return to their best, including trademark soft vocals and repetitive guitar riffs that float through the air. We can already hear the organisers of Leeds and Reading phoning the band’s management…

Niki and the Dove – DJ, Ease My Mind

Niki and the Dove – DJ, Ease My Mind

Swedish duo Gustaf Karlof and Malin Dahlstrom have only briefly touched these shores before now, but the New Year predicts big things for the Scandinavian pop. Having already toured with NME for the Radar Emerge shows, Niki and the Dove are ready to blow your brains up.

DJ, Ease My Mind was originally released back in 2010 with single, Under the Bridges, with Moshi Moshi music but after critical acclaim from music queen Annie Mac, Niki and the Dove felt they needed to make impact and with a re-release of an atmospheric dance record that’s echo-tastic, they plan to dominate 2012.

Lianne La Havas – No Room For Doubt

Lianne La Havas – No Room For Doubt

With no Amy and Lily’s retirement, Britain requires a new leading lady to swoon over. I introduce to you, Lianne La Havas clearly a woman with many influences including the latter. The 22 year old Londoner has been playing music since she was just 7! Having provided backing vocals for other artists like Paloma Faith, it’s time for her to shine solo.

No room for doubt is hauntingly reminiscent of past times and the simplicity of it is truly dreamy.  She may have some big shoes to fill but 2012 leaves her all the room for success none for doubt.

Dry the River – New Ceremony

Dry the River – New Ceremony

Based in London, Dry the River have enjoyed many accolades in the past two years but 2012 is bound to be their year. Norwegian born lead singer Peter Liddle may have an average name but he by no means produces average songs.

New Ceremony carries their folk-gospel punk infused melodies to the main stream. If you’ve been lucky enough to catch Dry the River live you will know the awe inspired atmosphere they create, this song is a teaser for those who haven’t.  Liddle’s voice strains to catch the perfect notes, ones you can’t help but fall for, so grab a download now.
