Born Blonde

November 2, 2011

Get a blast from the past with Born Blonde.

Just when you thought Britpop was put in a box and left on the ‘done and dusted’ shelf; West London chaps Born Blonde have revitalised the lost genre and shaken it up with a whole new twist. So far, many critics have deemed their sound as ‘space rock,’ but if you’re not quite sure what that sounds like then imagine a combination of the Verve, the Charlatans and the Stone Roses.

Already endorsed by NME, the band (completed with guitarist and lead vocalist Arthur Delaney, bassist Joshua-Lloyd-Watson, guitarist and vocalist Fraser MacColl, drummer George Day and Tom McFarland playing the keyboard and guitar) have recently been recording in the studio with Barny Barnicott who is renowned for working alongside the likes of Kasabian and the Arctic Monkeys. Together they have crafted the follow up to their debut seven inch ‘Solar’ with ‘Radio Bliss’ – a single fused with experimental and psychedelic elements. They have also finished placing the final touches to their debut album, which is due for release next year.

The science fiction novel ‘Starmaker’ was the inspiration for the new single, which offers a greater insight into Born Blonde’s approach of musical structure. So expect to hear a large amount of chiming, enticing vocals and soothing melodies on ‘Radio Bliss.’

As well as touring across the country, the band has kept busy by creating a new London Club night, ‘Purr’ which launches this winter.

Inevitably, it will come as no surprise to see these highly appraised musicians become a high profile hit in 2012 if they continue to evolve harmoniously.
