Alex (20) and Jade (19, with the quiff) are two northern girls based in London who call themselves ‘Oh My!’. Although their name came from the R&B sensations Tweet ft Missy Elliott after the hit Oops (Oh My) in 2002, their music has definitely gone through a pic and mix machine and flung itself on the edge of peoples lips. The duo are signed to 679, which is responsible for the likes of Little Boots and Marina and the Diamonds.
Example has been working his magic with them to help write their songs and is seen by them as their mentor. They have also come back from supporting The Saturdays (Yikes!) during December 2011. Their 90’s style bubblegum pop, with a fizzy dollop of head bouncing, a sassy sprinkle of girl power and a huge cheeky attitude on top, are undoubtedly your hangover cure for a ‘Bad Date’ (their latest single, which recounts the far too familiar and embarrassing stories of a date gone wrong) and an eardrum blast of energy. The funky duo have a mischievous shouty pop feel about them similar to the Ting Tings, whilst exploring that electronic quirkiness like Icona Pop and they can’t help but flaunt their flair and jokey Mini Viva quality.
Just like Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, which you know should really be illegal (it’s that bad for you), you also know that you really shouldn’t be allowing sugary music into your music diet! But you risk finding yourself addicted and might find yourself happily singing along to ‘Dirty Dancer’ where you want a “Patrick Swayze dirty dancer” – and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?
Oh my! This sugary pop duo might turn into a guilty pleasure.
