Watch Vampire Weekend (and friends) perform at Bernie Sanders rally

January 31, 2016

Vampire Weekend's Ezra KoenigVampire Weekend make their live comeback in Iowa City (their first show for nearly 2 years) to perform at a Bernie Sanders rally.

Rostam Batmanglij quit Vampire Weekend this week to focus on his solo activities, so Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth, comedic duo the Lucas Bros, and University of Iowa’s Hawkapellas (an all-female a cappella group) joined the band’s Ezra Koenig and drummer Chris Tomson for the event in support of the 74-year-old candidate for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

The entire rally has been uploaded to the official ‘Bernie 2016’ YouTube page. Vampire Weekend turn up at the 46:15 mark, performing their tracks “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” and “Unbelievers” at the ‘Students for Bernie’ event. Skip to 1:24:15 to see also see the man himself, Bernie Sanders, join Ezra for a cover of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Our Land”:
