‘Video Games’ singer Lana Del Rey has announced plans to bring back her unreleased first album. The album was originally recorded under the singer’s real name, Lizzy Grant.
Lizzy Grant aka Lana Del Ray was recorded in 2008 with producer David Kahne, who has previously worked with Paul McCartney and Regina Spektor. The album was never widely released, only being available to buy from iTunes for two months in 2010.
“I had signed to an independent label but they couldn’t fund the release of it,” sayid Del Rey. “People act like it’s so shrouded in mystery, the ‘forgotten terrible album’. But if you look on YouTube, all 13 tracks are available with millions of views, so it’s not like no-one’s heard them. We were all proud of it. It’s pretty good.”
The singer bought the rights for the album herself and plans to re-release it this summer. She releases her debut album Born To Die on January 30th.
