Folk singer Laura Marling and Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys are among the first group of artists confirmed to be playing as part of BBC 6 Music’s 10th birthday celebrations. Shaun Keaveny announced the first five musicians on his morning show today.
The celebrations will take place on March 16th across three venues in London’s South Bank Centre. Marling will be joined by BBC Sound of 2012 nominee Lianne La Havas in the Purcell Room. Rhys plays the Queen Elizabeth Hall with Anna Calvi and Beth Jeana Houghton And The Hooves Of Destiny.
6Music presenter Lauren Laverne said: “I love being part of the Radio 6 Music family and its success, it’s special radio. We’ll be featuring some of the station’s best music and artists during the anniversary and I’m especially looking forward to Maida Vale, where I’ll be bringing listeners some amazing live sessions.”
More events are to be announced for the station’s week-long celebrations.
