James Murphy has suggested that he is soon to launch his own expresso coffee brand.
The former LCD Soundsystem man has revealed he is in negotiations about producing his own brand of coffee to sell at an individual coffee shop – but was unable to give any further details abut the shop or the style of blend.
Murphy was speaking to New York Magazine’s Grub Street blog after the LCD Soundsystem documentary film Shut Up and Play the Hits premier at the Sundance Film Festival and talked about his plans to make his own coffee blend.
Murphy said he planned to ”just go to a roaster who lives near me and start tweaking beans and temperatures.” Why? “I thought it would be fun. I have beans that I like. I like this sometimes and that sometimes. Sometimes in the middle.”
When probed about these future coffee plans, he said “I can’t talk about that because I’m still in negotiations. I love that we’re here and talking about a film, but I’m like, ‘I can’t really talk about the coffee.’”
The screening of Shut Up and Play the Hits - about LCD Soundsystem’s farewell show at Madison Square Garden – featured footage of Murphy at home with his espresso machine.
