The Killers believe rock bands are struggling to write good enough songs to compete with dance artists.
Speaking to KROQ in Los Angeles, singer Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. admitted that they are unsurprised by the success of DJs and dance music nowadays due to a lack of kick-ass guitar music being released.
Flowers said “I don’t necessarily think there’s a lack of rock bands. I think we’re not writing good enough songs. I don’t think that it’s competing with that stuff, I guess. But when a rock song is great, no DJ can capture that feeling. I guess that’s my point.”
Vannucci agreed, adding: “If you’re a young band coming right. And you were raised on the Rolling Stones er even Nirvana… there’s not a home for you right now. It seems like it’s difficult to get in.”
The Killers released their fourth album, Battle Born, on September 17, 2012. However, Electric Banana is unsure if dance music has since launched a counter-attack.
