The Ting Tings have taken a long time to follow-up their big-selling debut from 2008, We Started Nothing, after allegedly binning an entire album worth of songs in the process – which singer Katie White described as having a “Euro-pop s**te” influence. Did they do the right thing?

Brooklyn duo Sleigh Bells (Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss) return with 2nd album ‘Reign of Terror’, which is more ear-friendly and melondic than their guitar (and ear) damaging debut ‘Treats’. You are not about to listen to a Ting Tings-esque indie-pop album, but surprisingly it actually isn’t too far off.

Band of Skulls play garage-blues rock ‘n’ roll that makes the “British Black Keys” comparison almost impossible to ignore. So is the band’s second studio album Sweet Sour likely launch the band into the spotlight? Are the new songs sweet, sour, or just inedible?

Field Music are often unfairly seen as the little bros of The Futureheads. Snotty little geeks that get praise from their more famous geographical siblings, but generally get little attention outside the North East. Bless them. But now the band have matured and are stepping out from the shadows of the fellow Wearsiders on their fourth album Plumb.

Sir Paul McCartney’s ‘Kisses on the Bottom’ album features covers of jazz standards written by classic American songwriters such as Irving Berlin and Frank Loesse. The album is therefore inspired by a bygone era with piano, sensitive acoustic playing, and lush arrangements filling McCartney’s fifteenth solo studio album.
