Following the release of the chart-topping Ceremonials back in October, Florence and The Machine hit Cardiff Motorpoint Arena as part of their UK tour. From the minute her silhouette appeared behind a crystal-like screen, the audience knew Florence would take them on a surreal musical journey. Electric Banana went along for the ride.

Ghostpoet @ the Lancaster Library in Lancaster 4/5

On a sold-out tour, Ghostpoet (Obaro Ejimiwe) brought his tales of London love and longing to a small but adoring crowd in the sci-fi section of Lancaster library. According to his Twitter, getting sweaty in a library is not the way Ghostpoet usually spends his Saturday nights, but in a small room surrounded by adult fiction he has all the energy of someone playing a venue ten times the size. Which is a problem – Ghostpoet’s sound is just too big for a venue like this.

The South East London based post-punk/art rock group hit the Bush Hall in London. They released an impressive debut in Again Into Eyes last year, but S.C.U.M. fail to put the magic across at this NME Awards show.

James Morrison @ the O2 Academy in Birmingham 4/5

Singer, songwriter and guitarist James Morrison, released his third studio album The Awakening last year. The Awakening tour showcases the aformentioned album of the same name which reached number 1 in the album chart. Glenn Rossington, after recently witnessing a poor show at Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton, catches the singer in Birmingham at the O2 Academy.
