Jasmine Ash is a delightful little singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon who recently received the lofty accolade of having one of her songs (this one, in fact!) used in a Ferrero Rocher ad. Of course, this alone earns her some brownie points with us, but luckily ‘Starlight’ is a veritable truffle full of delight, so the credit lies mostly with her.
It’s all twinkle and tinkle and cutesie pop, and it’s one of those songs that will probably alienate a hyper-masculine audience, but hey – we’re music critics here at EB so there’s nothing for her to worry about in that respect. Propelled by its perky drum beat, Ash’s rather saccharine vocals and the uplifting gang vocals, ‘Starlight’ overall all makes for a joyful ride.
This song is so cheery that when you resume your three hour commute after the Christmas holidays, you’ll too busy bopping along for that post-Christmas depression to kick in. If that fails, pair it with some leftover chocolates and you’re onto a winner.
