Nero – Reaching Out

Nero – Reaching Out 4/5

London based duo Nero have already become a big name on the mainstream UK dubstep and dance scene after gently easing themselves into the public consciousness with a few good releases, topped by the fourth single ‘Promises’ shooting straight to number 1 on the UK single chart. ‘Reaching Out’ is their 6th release from the album, and is already following in its predecessor’s footsteps with positive early reviews.

Stacey Solomon – Driving Home For Christmas

Stacey Solomon – Driving Home For Christmas 4/5

Stacey Solomon – just another X-Factor regurgitation trying to muscle in on the lucrative Christmas charts? Perhaps. But we at EB do rather like people with alliterative names. The Milk – B-Roads

The Milk – B-Roads 5/5

The Milk are four white boys from Chelmsford that seem to have taken it upon themselves to revive a swinging 60s r’n’b sound. ‘B-Roads’ is filled with err, sassy energy and romps along like a circus troupe on psychotropic drugs – it’s main strength though, has to be Ricky Nunn’s killer vocals. It’s almost purrrrrr-fect!

Futures – Start a Fire

Futures – Start a Fire 2/5

One of Mercury’s new(ish) toys, The Futures were snapped up by the label a little over a year ago after releasing their first album ‘The Holiday’ under their own steam . Their latest single ‘Start a Fire’, another deeply profound teen anthem unravelling the aches and pains of an average ‘young adult’, is released tomorrow, and while it may meet the demands of the zeitgeist, it leaves the listener underwhelmed. IC1s – Karma

IC1s – Karma 3/5

IC1s are a band with plenty of attitude, describing their coming together last year as a result of sharing “a mutual respect for music and being excellent”, but countless indie-bands have come and gone, let down by their inability to find the song-writing skills to back up the swagger. Whether or not IC1s will find that staying power remains to be seen following the release of latest single ‘Karma’, a solid if unremarkable indie-rock performance.
