LCD Soundsystem is the musical project of chubby American producer James Murphy, co-founder of dance-punk label DFA Records. The group's style is a feast of dance music and punk, along with elements of disco and other strange arse-wiggling styles.
What's striking about LCD Soundsystem live, as an actual live band rather than a studio geek and a few musicians, is how hard they rock - which we suspect would actually make Hot Chip soil themselves with fear if they attempted to do it. God bless them. Anyhoo, the band hit Birmingham's O2 Academy on Monday 28th April for a boisterous celebration of the genius of mixing styles that shouldn't work together.
On February 23rd, the official LCD Soundsystem website announced that the album had been completed and will be released on the 17th May. Neither a title nor cover art have yet to be announced - but it has the working title of Internet Sensation. One of two songs, Drunk Girls and Change are being considered as the first single.
With the band's future in constant doubt, this may be your last chance to see them live. Tickets are on sale now.
